Sharon Williamson
Bio
Sharon manages the molecular biology lab for the sweetpotato and potato breeding and genetics programs. She contributes to genetic studies, food processing and sensory evaluations, and disease screening needed to develop sweetpotato cultivars. Marker-assisted selection is conducted to identify disease-resistance genes needed to develop potato cultivars. She received her BS degree in biology from Albright College, and MS and PhD degrees in plant pathology from North Carolina State University.
