Amelia Loeb
Graduate Student, Sweetpotato Breeding and Genetics Program
Bio
Amelia is a PhD student studying bioinformatics with a focus on sweetpotato breeding. She earned her bachelor’s degree in horticulture science from the University of Maryland and her master’s degree in crop and soil environmental science from Virginia Tech. In between, she interned and then worked for Driscoll’s in California. She loves plants, food, and data (especially if it’s about plants and food). Her multifaceted research integrates genomic information and high throughput phenotyping to ease the plant improvement process toward breeding targets.
