Bio
Ragy is a Research Technician in the Sweetpotato Breeding and Genetics Program. He manages the NIRS (Near Infrared Spectroscopy) Lab and the poly-cross nurseries. He also assists in field breeding trials. Born and raised in Egypt, Ragy received a BS in Genetics and Genetic Engineering from Zagazig University (1997) and an MS in Plant Genetics from Suez Canal University (2003). He was a Ph.D. candidate at the Molecular Biology Institute (Sadat City University) before working as a Lab Technician with the Tomato Breeding Program at the University of Florida for three years and as a Research Specialist with NCSU’s Tomato Breeding Program for five years.
